...For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are Abraham’s descendants are they all his children. On the contrary, “Through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.” So it is not the children of the flesh who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as offspring. Romans 9:6-8 Berean Study Bible A man is not a Jew because he is one outwardly, nor is circumcision only outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew because he is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise does not come from men, but from God. Romans 2:28,29 BSB Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:6-8 Believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9,10 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. (Love Each Other) And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:15-21 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another. John 15:12-17 "(And) love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind (even) to ungrateful and evil men. Luke 6:35 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness." 2nd Timothy 2:19

If Everyone is Commissioned to go then we would be One Big Foot instead of an entire body. Everyone should have a Gift from the Holy Spirit because Jesus said, You Must Be Born Again. This is After everyone was baptized by John. We need to look at All the Gifts that we can find in the scriptures and not single everyone out to be Fishers of Men or tongue talkers. I pray in tongues but I have not stood up and "spoken" in tongues. It is better to Interpret the tongues and better yet to Prophecy. Yet, the Greatest of these is Love. Without God there is no love because God Is Love.
1st Corinthians 12 is were we find the majority of the gifts mentioned. 3...no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. -- This is the Initial Evidence of the Holy Spirit. Not tongues. 4. There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom (1) to another the message of knowledge (2) by the same Spirit, to another faith (3) by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing (4) by that one Spirit, to another the working of miracles (5) to another prophecy (6) to another distinguishing between spirits (7) to another speaking in various tongues (8) and to still another the interpretation of tongues (9). All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines. Then the "man" Paul shows his human side by mixing gifts with ministries. 27. Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles (5), and those with gifts of healing (4), helping, administration, and various tongues (8). Then we find the term Evangelist in 2nd Timothy 4:5 and Ephesians 4:11 And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be "evangelists", and some to be pastors and teachers. Compared to 1st Corinthians 12:28 apostles, prophets, teachers... it is possible that an Evangelist is a teacher more than a preacher. An apostle will preach and perform signs, wonders and miracles 2nd Corinthians 12:12 and the evangelist should teach about what the apostle is doing and through whom he is doing it. Jesus did not send them alone. They went out in twos. Luke 10:1 ...the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to visit. 1st Corinthians 12:29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts. Chapter 13 is all about Love, the Greatest Gift. Was Abraham's Faith all he needed to be saved?
As a "Born Again" Protestant, I don't believe or have the faith to believe, ha ha, that Faith Alone (Sola Fide) is all we need for Salvation. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Romans 4:3 But what was he believing? And the LORD took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as "righteousness". Genesis 15:5,6 Paul is teaching about "Righteousness", not Salvation. In the context of the Chapter, Paul is teaching about works of the Law, not Good works that we are created to do. Ephesians 2:10 He goes on to talk about circumcision, a Law. Then, in Chapter 10 of the same book, (Romans) in verse 10 Paul states: For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved. This comes after he has already said, ... “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are "proclaiming": that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your "heart" that God raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved. vs.8-10 Believing in your heart is more than just believing. We have to believe beyond the shadow of a doubt. Abraham also had to sacrifice animals but, not for salvation, for a sign concerning his offspring. And the LORD said to him, “Bring Me a heifer, a goat, and a ram, each three years old, along with a turtledove and a young pigeon.” So Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not cut. And the birds of prey descended on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away. As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and suddenly great terror and darkness overwhelmed him. Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not their own; they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years. Genesis 15:9, 10 For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would not the offerings have ceased? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt the guilt of their sins. Instead, those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for me. In burnt offerings and sin offerings You took no delight. Then I said, ‘Here I am, it is written about Me in the scroll: I have come to do Your will, O God.’” Hebrews 10:1-7 Faith Alone is not enough. The demons believe but they will never confess Jesus as Lord until the Judgement, when they will be forced to bend the knee and confess Christ Jesus is Lord. We can do it willfully or with the devil and his angels. Your choice. Sola 6. Confess your sins and Confess Jesus as Lord and Christ. Sola 7. Abstain from wickedness. 2nd Timothy 2:19 Sola 8. Resist the devil, put off the old and put on the new, renew the mind, Love God, Love your neighbor and Love your enemy. Solas are redundant, even though Paul says we are saved by Mercy Alone. Yet before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad, in order that God’s plan of election might stand, not by works but by Him who calls, she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” So it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Certainly not! For He says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then, it does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. Romans 9:9-16 But Because of His "Great Love" for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! --- For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do Good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life. --- But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility by "abolishing" in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace and reconciling both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He extinguished their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Ephesians 2:4... Born Again Protestants |
